The signs section also tests road markings and signals. Key ones: a solid white barrier line means no crossing or overtaking, a yellow edge line marks the edge of the roadway, and the traffic light sequence is red, green, amber.
Road markings
- Solid white barrier line – do not cross or straddle it (no overtaking).
- Broken white line – lane or centre line you may cross when safe.
- Stop line – stop behind it at a STOP sign or red light.
- Yellow edge line – marks the edge of the road; the shoulder is not a normal driving lane.
Traffic signals
Red: stop. Green: go if safe. Amber (steady): stop unless it is unsafe to do so. Flashing red: treat as a stop. Malfunctioning lights: treat as a four-way stop.
Hand signals
Traffic officers' and drivers' hand signals may appear in questions — learn them from the K53 manual.
